About Me
Currently I am a third-year kindergarten teacher at Manito Elementary School in the Oakland Public Schools District. Before teaching kindergarten, I taught as a Resource Room Teacher there for students 2nd-5th grade. Prior to teaching in Oakland, I was a Maternity Replacement at John F. Kennedy School in Wayne Public Schools for five months in a 2nd grade classroom. This was upon graduating from Rider University in three and a half years.
I am a highly motivated and innovative educator who believes in the power of encouraging a growth mindset in the classroom. Designing meaningful learning experiences that promote social emotional learning are crucial to my classroom environment. I value cultivating positive and productive relationships within the school community. Collaboration and teamwork are two very important features of my professional work habits. I have significant education experience, with a solid foundation in best practices for all content area. As an educator, I am determined to make my students love the learning process and have a positive attitude for school.
Throughout my undergraduate work and several years of professional experience, I have taught in general and special education settings. Currently, I am in the process of pursing a Master’s degree in Literacy with a concentration in Reading. The combination of these diverse experiences allows me to bring a well-rounded skill set into a general education elementary classroom to influence the minds of young learners.
